About Singleplayer Roleplay
A roleplay server for GTA San Andreas, built on Project Eagle and open.mp.
Singleplayer Roleplay is a roleplay server for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. It is in development and not yet open to the public. This site exists so that you can see what is being built before it opens.
The world
The server runs on Project Eagle, a total conversion that rebuilds San Andreas and joins it to Liberty City, Vice City and several other regions in one continuous landmass. It is far larger than the map the game shipped with, and you can drive between all of it without a loading screen.
The world, and every model and texture in it, is Project Eagle's work. What is built here is the server that runs on top of it.
The 3D map
The 3D map shows that whole world in a browser. It is not a rendered picture or a set of screenshots: it is the actual geometry, read out of the game's own files and rebuilt as something a browser can draw.
Every model, texture and object placement is taken directly from the game data - the RenderWare model files, the texture dictionaries, and the placement lists that say where each object stands. Those are baked into just over a thousand tiles that stream in as you move. Water comes from the game's own water data, so rivers, sea and swimming pools are exactly where the game puts them, and sunlight is worked out once when the tiles are built rather than every frame.
Drag to look around, scroll to zoom, and use WASD to fly. Q and E move you down and up, Shift moves faster, and R returns you to where the map opened.
It holds the entire world in memory at once, so it wants a desktop with a reasonable graphics card - it downloads around 600 MB the first time and keeps it cached afterwards. If your machine cannot manage it, the page will say so before it starts, and the flat map below shows the same world for almost nothing.
The flat map
The overhead map is the lighter option. It shows the same world from above, with houses, businesses, gang territory and points of interest that you can switch on and off. It works on anything.
What it runs on
- open.mp - the multiplayer server the game connects to.
- Project Eagle - the total conversion that provides the world.
